ALIS MCP Connector
Connect Claude to your ALIS account and ask about your communities and residents in plain language.
The ALIS MCP Connector lets Claude and other AI assistants read data from your organization's ALIS account. You sign in with your own ALIS account, and the assistant only sees what your ALIS permissions allow. The connector is read-only: it can look data up, but it cannot create, change or delete anything in ALIS.
Requirements
- An active ALIS account. You sign in with the same account you use for ALIS.
- The ALIS MCP Connector turned on for your organization. ALIS turns it on on request: contact your ALIS account manager or ALIS support. Until it is on, sign-in shows "Your company has not turned on the ALIS MCP Connector".
- An MCP client that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in, such as Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex or Copilot.
Getting started
Claude.ai and Claude Desktop
- Open Settings → Connectors.
- Find ALIS in the directory and click Connect. If ALIS is not listed yet, choose Add custom connector and paste the server URL:
https://mcp.alisonline.com/mcp. - Your browser opens the ALIS sign-in page. Sign in with your ALIS account and approve access.
- In a chat, click + → Connectors and turn on ALIS.
On Claude Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner must add the ALIS connector before members can connect their own ALIS accounts.
Claude Code
- Add the server:
claude mcp add --transport http alis https://mcp.alisonline.com/mcp - Run
/mcp, select alis, and finish the sign-in in your browser. - Check it is connected with
claude mcp list.
Other AI apps
Follow your app's steps for adding a remote MCP server. Use https://mcp.alisonline.com/mcp with the Streamable HTTP transport. Your app must support OAuth sign-in.
Check that it works
Ask: "Which ALIS communities do I have access to?" Claude should list your communities. If it does, you're ready.
Example prompts
Try these in order to test a new connection.
1. See your communities
"Which ALIS communities do I have access to?"
Tool used: alis_list_my_communities
Example answer:
You have access to 2 ALIS communities:
- Oak Ridge (ID 1031), Texas, US/Central
- Sunrise Gardens (ID 1024), Texas, US/Central
2. Count residents in a community
"How many residents live at Sunrise Gardens right now?"
Tool used: alis_list_residents
Example answer:
Sunrise Gardens has 84 current residents. The first few by last name are Ann Adams, Bob Baker and Carol Chen. Want the full list?
3. Find a resident's ALIS ID
"Find the ALIS ID for the resident named Baker in my communities."
Tools used: alis_list_my_communities, then alis_list_residents
Example answer:
I found one resident named Baker: Bob Baker, ALIS ID 55031, at Sunrise Gardens.
Supported tools
All tools are read-only. They only return data from your organization, limited to the communities and permissions your ALIS account has. Click a tool to see its details.
alis_list_my_communities
Lists the active ALIS communities you have access to, ordered by name. Each community includes its ID, name, time zone and US state. Use it first: other tools need a community ID from this list.
Parameters: none. The answer depends only on who you are.
Permission: every ALIS user can use it.
Example prompts
- "Which ALIS communities can I see?"
- "What's the community ID for Oak Ridge?"
- "Which of my communities are in Texas?"
Example result
{
"communities": [
{ "id": 1024, "name": "Sunrise Gardens", "timeZone": "US/Central", "state": "TX" },
{ "id": 1031, "name": "Oak Ridge", "timeZone": "US/Central", "state": "TX" }
]
}
alis_list_residents
Lists the current residents of one community, ordered by last name, with each resident's ALIS ID, first name and last name, plus the total count. Results come in pages.
Permission: needs the ALIS "View residents" permission. Only current residents are returned. No clinical, medication, assessment or billing data.
Parameters

|---|---|---|---|
communityId | Yes | - | A community ID from alis_list_my_communities. Positive whole number. |
limit | No | 25 | Residents per page, 1 to 100 |
offset | No | 0 | Residents to skip, 0 or more |
Paging: when hasMore is true, the assistant calls again with offset set to nextOffset.
Example prompts
- "How many residents are at Sunrise Gardens?"
- "List the first 10 residents at Oak Ridge, then the next 10."
- "Is there a resident named Adams at Sunrise Gardens?"
Example result
{
"communityId": 1024,
"communityName": "Sunrise Gardens",
"page": {
"items": [
{ "id": 55012, "firstName": "Ann", "lastName": "Adams" },
{ "id": 55031, "firstName": "Bob", "lastName": "Baker" }
],
"totalCount": 84,
"hasMore": true,
"nextOffset": 25
}
}
Disconnect or remove the connector
Disconnecting stops the AI app from reading your ALIS data. Your ALIS account and data are not changed.
Claude.ai and Claude Desktop
- Turn it off for one chat: in the chat, click + → Connectors and turn off ALIS.
- Disconnect your ALIS account: open Settings → Connectors, select ALIS and choose Disconnect. You can connect again later; you will sign in again.
- Remove it for your organization (Team and Enterprise owners): remove ALIS from your organization's connector settings. Members can no longer connect.
Claude Code
claude mcp remove alis
Other AI apps
Remove the ALIS MCP server from your app's connector or MCP server settings.
To turn the ALIS MCP Connector off for your whole company, contact ALIS support.
